In a fit of theologically-confused, anti-Trump bile Friday on Twitter, dictator-loving, left-wing actor/activist Sean Penn declared that Pope Francis should “impeach” evangelical leaders who fail to denounce former President Trump.
“Evangelical leaders should themselves be impeached by the Vatican if they themselves don’t follow Nikki Haley’s lead & clearly state they should not have followed Satin [sic] into the bowels of hell. But, perhaps they are too busy at sex parties,” Penn tweeted, referring to Trump’s former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Haley, who told Politico that Trump was guilty of inciting riots and that Republicans “should not have followed him.”
In addition to misspelling “Satan,” Penn also seems clueless that “evangelicals” refers to Protestant church leaders, over whom the Pope, as a Catholic, has no authority.
Like many other celebrity useful idiots, Penn is fond of spewing uninformed political hatred on social media. This January, he smeared Trump supporters as terrorists, compared them to al-Qaeda, and said the then-president was just like Osama Bin Laden. Prior to that, Penn had advised Trump to take cyanide as “a mercy for man & country.”
Among other anti-American strongmen Penn has had bromances with, he greatly revered the late Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez.
