Pope Francis met with documentary filmmaker/activist Michael Moore in the Vatican Wednesday, for which Moore stated that he is “deeply moved and grateful.”
“Today I met Pope Francis for the first time at the weekly general audience he holds at the Vatican,” Moore tweeted after. “We spoke for a number of minutes. I had a question I wanted to ask him and he gave me his answer. I will write about this tomorrow.”
Moore, in Rome to promote his new anti-Trump documentary Fahrenheit 11/9, has called Francis “the Catholic church’s Gorbachev.” After the Pope’s election, Moore said, “We have to pray that this pope is going to be a different pope and that he will lead a church that is going to be “a force against the corporatocracy that is running this planet right now.”
