Wednesday on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, Rep. Ted Lieu claimed that former special counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony before Congress showed President Trump committed “multiple felonies.”
“What the hearing showed today, that Donald Trump committed multiple acts of obstruction of justice,” Lieu said. “Those are felonies. What the American people and Congress choose to do with that information we’ll see in the next few days and weeks.
In fact, Mueller himself went out of the way to state otherwise.
“I want to add one correction to my testimony this morning,” Mueller said.” I want to go back to one thing that was said this morning by Mr. Lieu, who said and I quote, ‘You didn’t charge the President because of the [Office of Legal Counsel] opinion. That is not the correct way to say it. As we say in the report and as I said at the opening, we did not reach a determination as to whether the President committed a crime.”
