Just before midnight on New Year’s Eve, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio danced with his wife in Times Square — after ordering the rest of New Yorkers out of the plaza for the first time history to enforce coronavirus restrictions.
De Blasio had closed off Times Square to the hundreds of thousands who typically gather in Times Square. Police officers barricaded the area to prevent citizens from exercising their Constitutional right to gather.
“It’s going to be actually, arguably, the most special, the most poignant, the most moving New Year’s Eve,” the incompetent totalitarian de Blasio told reporters. “In 2021, we’re going to show people what it looks like to recover, to come back.”
New York viewers barred from the New Year’s celebration were less than inspired by this vow. Instead, they were rightfully outraged to see that de Blasio posted to Twitter a video of himself dancing in the Square with his wife, and they blasted him for it on social media.
