The Muslim Businessmen Association (MBA) – also known as the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association – was established in 1990 to create a forum wherein Muslims from around the world could network and thereby promote one another's success and prosperity.

To help advance this goal, the Association holds two major events each year. The first of these is the International Business Forum (IBF), which seeks to “provid[e] co-operation and partnership opportunities” that enable Muslims to “buil[d] trade and investment links.” The IBF motto is "Global Business Network among Muslim Nations." IBF is also an official forum of the Organization of the Islamic Conference's Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation.

IBF participants include delegates from Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Czech, Denmark, Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Fiji, France, Gambia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Gana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Netherlands, Niger, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Singapore, South Africa, Sudan, Sweden, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, U.A.E, U.K., Uzbekistan and Yemen.

The other major MBA event is its annual International Fair, where representatives of Muslim-owned companies from a host of sectors convene to inform one another -- and the general public -- about the respective products and services they offer. This event generally attracts more than 500 exhibitors and 150,000 visitors.

MBA was named in a May 1991 Muslim Brotherhood document -- titled "An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America" -- as one of the Brotherhood’s 29 likeminded "organizations of our friends" that shared the common goal of destroying America and turning it into a Muslim nation. These "friends" were identified by the Brotherhood as groups that could help teach Muslims "that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands ... so that ... God's religion [Islam] is made victorious over all other religions."
