* The Proteus Fund was a co-sponsor of a July 2004 voter-mobilization campaign whose aim was to register as many new voters as possible, voters who could thereafter be persuaded to support the leftist agendas of the Proteus Fund’s grantees.
* A former PF program known as the Media Action Fund (MAF) used aggressive advertising campaigns to promote leftist agendas. Between 2000 and 2004, for example, MAF gave more than $2 million to organizations advocating radical environmental activism. Among MAF’s grantees were the Earth Day Network, the Sierra Club, and the U.S. Public Interest Research Group.
* A precursor to PF’s Security and Rights Collaborative was its Security Policy Working Group (SPWG), which sought to “broaden and deepen the public discourse on what constitutes true security in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.” SPWG emphasized “multilateral, cooperative approaches that lessen the need for, and use of, military force.”
