A DSF publication titled 10 Ways You Can Help Stop Climate Change advises people to walk, cycle, take public transit, or carpool whenever possible; to “use the smallest, most fuel-efficient vehicle possible”; to convert to the use of compact fluorescents or LED lightbulbs; to unplug their electronic equipment when not in use; to wash their clothes in cold water rather than hot; to avoid using clothes dryers, which use large amounts of energy; to purchase organic and locally grown foods; to reduce their consumption of meat; to “keep stuff out of landfills by composting kitchen scraps and garden trimmings”; to recycle paper, glass, plastic, and metals; to travel by bus or train rather than by plane; and to “try vacationing closer to home.”
