* In 1974, Mott started the Fund for Constitutional Government, to expose and correct corruption in the federal government.

* In 1979, Mott married Kappy Wells, a sculptor. The couple had a son together before divorcing in 1999.

* At a 1982 soiree, Mott brought an elephant (the symbol of the Republican Party) and two donkeys (symbols of the Democratic Party) into his Washington home, presumably to demonstrate his political balance.
