On July 8, 2009, Sebelius spoke at a Campus Progress conference in Washington, DC. Other speakers at the event included Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Van Jones.
In 2011, Sebelius emphasized her belief that it was government’s duty to address the fact that “many of the communities most in need of an economic boost, especially minority or low-income ones, also bear the greatest burdensfrom environmental degradation and pollution.”
