* In 1987, Schneiderman served as a statesman for New York State Assembly Speaker Mel Miller.
* On August 24, 2013, Schneiderman filed a lawsuit against Trump University, a series of New York-based real-estate seminars that bore the name of billionaire Donald Trump from 2004-10. In a publicity blitz on August 26, Schneiderman personally appeared on CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, ABC, and NBC to smear Trump’s “despicable” seminars as “a classic bait-and-switch scheme” that was “a scam from top to bottom.” Specifically, Schneiderman alleged that Trump was running an illegal for-profit college via seminars that did not follow New York State’s regulatory guidelines for colleges, and that many students had been falsely led to believe that they were attending a university. But because there was no evidence to support these claims, Schneiderman’s lawsuit was eventually dismissed.
* It should be noted that Schneiderman’s investigation of the Trump University seminars began in 2011. According to the New York Observer: “Starting at the same time and continuing for two years, Mr. Schneiderman pursued political contributions and other favors from Mr. Trump, Ms. Trump and Mr. [Jared] Kushner [Trump’s son-in-law] … and [Trump attorney] Michael Cohen. He [Schneiderman] also repeatedly reminded them about his office’s investigation, suggesting as he asked for their help that the investigation would go away.” For details about these overtures by Schneiderman, click here.
* In June 2017 Schneiderman led a lawsuit against a dozen anti-abortion activists, alleging that they and their cohorts had repeatedly “subjected incoming patients [at abortion clinics] to a barrage of unwanted physical contact as well as verbal abuse, threats of harm, and lies …”
