Choices in Community Giving (CCG)

Overview

* Idaho-based federation of some three-dozen left-wing nonprofits

Choices in Community Giving (CCG) is an Idaho-based federation of more than 35 nonprofit organizations active in the fields of “education, health and human welfare, the arts, environmental and conservation education, and … social and/or economic justice issues.” In conjunction with these nonprofits, CCG administers “workplace giving” campaigns, usually conducted in the fall of each year, where employees and employers alike select their favorite CCG member charities and plege financial contributions to them—either through cash disbursements, credit card payments, or payroll deductions. For its role in coordinating these transactions, CCG charges an annual fee of slightly less than 10 percent of the value of the donations.

CCG’s member groups are mostly local, state, and regional organizations. Among them are the American Civil Liberties Union of Idaho Foundation, the Arc, Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity, Idaho Academic Decathlon, the Idaho Black History Museum, the Idaho Botanical Garden, the Idaho Conservation League, the Idaho Education Association Children’s Fund, the Idaho Federation for Children’s Mental Health, the Idaho Fish & Wildlife Foundation, the Idaho Human Rights Education Center, Idaho Rivers United, the Interfaith Alliance, Land Trust of the Treasure Valley, the Living Independence Network, the Mentoring Network, Northwest Animal Companions, the Northwest Children’s Home, Treasure Valley Public Access TV, and United Vision for Idaho.

CCG is governed by a board of directors composed of representatives from each of the groups in the federation; each member organization has an equal voice in CCG’s decision-making process.
