WI Republicans Block Kaepernick from Black History Month Resolution

February 14, 2019

Republicans in Wisconsin’s House of Representatives blocked a Black History Month resolution until sponsors removed the name of former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick from the document.

The controversial Kaepernick is notable for his national anthem protests against purported police brutality.

“I think it’s important to recognize the contributions of literally thousands and thousands of African-Americans to our state’s history but also trying to find people who, again, bring us together,” said Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos. “Not look at people who draw some sort of vitriol from either side.”
