Thursday on CNN, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer downplayed the rumor that she is a possible running mate for presumptive Democrat nominee Joe Biden, saying, “The job that I want is the one that I have.”
“I’ll be very frank with you,” Whitmer said. “The job that I want is the one that I have. I worked for two years to become the governor of the state of Michigan, and while it’s been challenging and there have been some tough days, there’s no place I’d rather be than right here in my home state, making decisions that are saving people’s lives. It’s the honor of my lifetime to be here.
Asked if she would turn down the offer, she demurred, saying only that she’s a “big fan” of Biden, thinks he’s going to be a “phenomenal president,” and is “going to support him in any way that I can be helpful.”
Whitmer is being disingenuous. She has reveling in her role as a petty tyrant in Michigan, ordering draconian measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic, but there is no way she or any other VP pick (apart from Michelle Obama) would turn down Biden’s offer.
