Sen. Elizabeth Warren released a plan Friday to break up some of America’s largest tech companies, such as Facebook, Google, and Amazon, and to appoint regulators to “unwind tech mergers that illegally undermine competition.”
“To restore the balance of power in our democracy, to promote competition, and to ensure that the next generation of technology innovation is as vibrant as the last, it’s time to break up our biggest tech companies,” the 2020 Democrat presidential hopeful said in a statement.
“The monopolists will make fewer monopoly profits. Boo-hoo,” Warren said at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
