In a brief but intense exchange caught on video and posted to Twitter Tuesday, an angry father confronted White House contender Elizabeth Warren about her fundamentally unfair student loan forgiveness plan.
In the video clip, the father tells Warren he sacrificed and worked hard to save money for his daughter’s college education. “Am I going to get my money back?” he asked, to which a smiling Warren replied,”Of course not.” He shot back, “So you’re going to pay for people who didn’t save any money and those of us who did the right thing get screwed?”
Warren started to answer but the dad pressed on, accusing her of laughing at him before walking away in frustration.
Warren later dismissed his argument on CBS This Morning Friday, claiming “Look, we build a future going forward by making it better… We don’t build an America by saddling our kids with debt.” We also don’t build a future by teaching our youth that personal responsibility counts for nothing and the government is their savior.
