Warren Calls Gun Violence ‘National Health Emergency’

June 27, 2019

In Wednesday night’s Democrat presidential debate, Sen. Elizabeth Warren called gun violence a “national health emergency in this country.”

She suggested that solutions might include “universal background checks” and banning “weapons of war,” a reference to so-called “assault weapons.” Breitbart noted that Warren neglected to mention that California adopted universal background checks in the early 1990s, yet the state continues to experience mass shootings. She also omitted the fact that California already has an “assault weapons” ban, which has not stemmed shootings either.

“We can also double down on the research and find out what really works,” she added. “We need to treat it like a serious research problem, which we have not done.”
