President Trump took to social media on Monday to ridicule Sen. Mitt Romney after his former presidential rival joined a march to the White House in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.
“Tremendous sincerity, what a guy. Hard to believe, with this kind of political talent, his numbers would ‘tank’ so badly in Utah!” Trump wrote on Twitter, sharing video of Romney marching with a group of nearly 1,000 Christians to the White House.
“We need a voice against racism; we need many voices against racism and against brutality. And we need to stand up and say black lives matter,” Romney said as he marched on Sunday. Romney’s polling shows that he is largely embraced by Democrats and shunned by Republicans for his tepid stance on conservative issues.
No one disagrees that black lives matter. That is not the same as supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, a far-left, cop-hating, Marxist organization which claims America is a white supremacist nation. Anyone who defends black lives needs to make that distinction clear.
