House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is taking heat for her theatrical ripping up of President Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday night, drawing a fiery response from, among others, Donald Trump Jr., who compared it to ripping up America’s heroes and workers.
As noted by Breitbart News, when Trump finished his speech by declaring, “God bless America,” Pelosi stood up behind him and tore the transcript in half, in full view of Congress and the nation. It was a childish display of petulance and frustration over Trump’s successes.
In so doing, Breitbart pointed out, “Pelosi tore apart a text honoring American military forces – including Tuskegee Airman Gen. Charles McGee, a 100-year-old veteran of the pioneering black fighter pilots amongst others – as well as other hardworking Americans.”
On Instagram, Trump Jr. posted a photo montage of Americans of all colors surrounding a screenshot of Pelosi tearing up her copy of the President’s speech. He captioned it, “This is what Nancy Pelosi ripped up. A truly shameful move even for her.”
