Tlaib Rages Against Sinema’s ‘No’ Vote on Minimum Wage

March 8, 2021

Rep. Rashida Tlaib took to Twitter to express outrage after fellow Democrat Sen. Kyrsten Sinema gave an emphatic thumbs-down vote on Sen. Bernie Sanders’ $15-an-hour minimum wage hike.

“No one should ever be this happy to vote against uplifting people out of poverty. This is Senator Sinema voting no on $15 minimum wage,” Tlaib raged, posting a video clip of Sinema’s dramatic body language as she down-voted the measure.

Sinema was one of seven Democrats and one independent who joined Republicans in blocking the Progressive effort to raise the wage. She defended her decision in a statement on Friday: “Senators in both parties have shown support for raising the federal minimum wage and the Senate should hold an open debate and amendment process on raising the minimum wage, separate from the COVID-focused reconciliation bill,” she argued.

“I will keep working with colleagues in both parties to ensure Americans can access good-paying jobs, quality education, and skills training to build more economically secure lives for themselves and their families,” Sinema continued.

Meanwhile, economics-challenged, farther-left colleagues like socialist Tlaib are apoplectic over this failed attempt to destroy the American economy.
