Tlaib: ‘Movement’ on the Streets Gives ‘Credibility to Why I Ran’

August 26, 2020

In a Vanity Fair photo essay celebrating Black Lives Matter activists and those who are on the “forefront of change,” Rep. Rashida Tlaib proudly declared that the “movement” on the streets for “transformative change” lends more “credibility” to why she ran for office.

“It just gives more credibility to why I ran. It gives more credibility [to] why I fight to [lift] people out of poverty, why I am saying enough with structural racism, and ending mass incarceration, and ending the injustices that we see in our school system,” Tlaib explained.

“When I see this movement on the street—that’s where transformative change really starts and it’s hitting us right here in the halls of Congress,” she said, adding that it is “powerful to watch it happen.”

What she calls a “movement” for “transformative change” is actually a violent Marxist revolution ravaging the country, leaving ruined communities and lives in its wake. Neither Tlaib nor any of her fellow Democrat leaders has denounced the domestic terrorism being waged by Black Lives Matter or Antifa.
