At a virtual press conference on Facebook with fellow radicals in the House of Representatives to announce the progressive policies they want included in future coronavirus relief legislation, Rep. Rashida Tlaib claimed that “corporate greed” is as serious a disease in the United States as the pandemic.
“We really need to show how the corporate greed is the disease in our country alongside what is happening with coronavirus,” Tlaib said in the #PutPeopleFirst campaign.
On Twitter, Tlaib quoted Planned Parenthood activist Sonya Renee Taylor: “Our pre-corona existence was not normal other than we normalized greed, inequity, exhaustion, depletion, extraction, disconnection, confusion, rage, hoarding, hate & lack. We should not return, my friends. We are being given the opportunity to stitch a new garment.”
In line with the Democrat maxim never to let a crisis go to waste, Tlaib added, “This is our moment to create this new garment for humanity, and I hope you all will join us in doing that.”
