SF Restaurant Owner Blasts ‘Cranky Bernie’ Sanders

August 28, 2019

John Konstin, owner of the iconic John’s Grill on Union Square restaurant in San Francisco, blasted Democrat presidential contender Bernie Sanders for being “cranky” and “rude” to staff during a visit last week, according to Breitbart News.

The senator was in town for the annual Democrat National Committee’s summer meeting when he and members of his campaign reportedly stopped into the 111-year-old bistro for dinner Thursday.

“It was all very nice, except for cranky Bernie,” Konstin told Politico. “He was just rude, not friendly. I think he was hungry and just didn’t want to be a politician. He lost my vote,” he continued.

A spokesperson for John’s Grill said in a statement to the San Francisco Chronicle that it is unlike Konstin to speak ill of patrons and thus Sanders must have been in a “terrible mood.” Sanders’ wife even apologized to staff as they exited. “Anyone in the public eye needs to understand when it’s time to order room service,” the spokesperson added.
