Sen. Brown: Trump Could Delay Election over Coronavirus

March 19, 2020

In the wake of Ohio halting its presidential primary election, Sen. Sherrod Brown suggested Wednesday that President Trump might exploit the coronavirus outbreak to postpone the 2020 presidential election.

“My concern is that in the age of Trump that other governors might think, or that the president might ask, for a delay in the November election based on something, perhaps this, perhaps something else,” Brown told reporters.

“I wish they had done this earlier. I think they could have done this on Friday. He’s in the arena doing this, I’m not,” Brown added, referring to Gov. Mike DeWine’s rescheduling of the state’s election. “I’m not super critical of him. I just wish they had done this earlier.”

Democrats have claimed relentlessly since the coronavirus outbreak that Trump would seize the opportunity to act on his purportedly dictatorial instincts. Meanwhile, the only people exploiting the crisis are Democrats, who are weaponizing it against Trump to damage his chances in the election.
