Schumer: Pelosi Comment About the GOP ‘Getting Away With’ Floyd’s ‘Murder’ ‘Fine with Me’

June 25, 2020

In a press conference on Wednesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer responded to a question about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s comment that the Republican leadership is “trying to get away with murder, actually, the murder of George Floyd” with their police reform bill by stating that “what she said was fine with me.”

When Schumer was asked if he thought it was appropriate for Speaker Pelosi to say that Republicans are getting away with the murder of Floyd, a black man killed in police custody in Minneapolis, Schumer replied, “Pelosi’s answered that question herself and whatever — what she said was fine with me.”

Of course it’s fine with Schumer. Democrats never apologize, never backpedal, never concede that they’ve lied or exaggerated. They create their hateful, demonizing narratives and stand by them no matter how false or outrageous. They always play offense.

There’s a lesson there for Republican leaders.
