Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer claimed on Monday that Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell’s impeachment resolution “is nothing short of a national disgrace.”
McConnell’s resolution also contains a proposal to vote on a motion as to “whether it shall be in order to consider and debate under the impeachment rules any motion to subpoena witnesses or documents.”
“After reading his resolution, it’s clear Sen. McConnell is hell-bent on making it much more difficult to get witnesses & documents and intent on rushing the trial through,” Schumer wrote on Twitter. “On something as important as impeachment—Sen. McConnell’s resolution is nothing short of a national disgrace.”
The national disgrace is the Democrats’ obsession with impeaching President Trump. Still in bitter denial over Hillary Clinton‘s loss to Trump in 2016, the Party has wasted over three years trying to bring Trump down. It hasn’t worked yet, it won’t work in the Senate impeachment trial, and it won’t work come November.
