During a press conference on Saturday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer stated that Senate Democrats are “united in opposition” to the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett (ACB) to the Supreme Court and that Democrats are united “in alerting the American people” to the threat she poses to their health care.
“My colleagues are united in opposition,” Schumer said. “Many of them have issued statements in opposition, and we are united, Democrats — House, Senate, and Joe Biden — in alerting the American people to the danger, danger to their health care, their very health care they depend on, with this nomination.”
In a statement, Schumer fear-mongered that a “far-right majority” on the court could “turn back the clock on women’s rights and a woman’s right to choose, workers’ rights, voting rights, civil rights, LGBTQ rights, environmental protections, and more.”
He added, “Justice Ginsburg’s dying wish was that she not be replaced until a new president is installed. Republicans are poised to not only ignore her wishes, but to replace her with someone who could tear down everything that she built.” This is idiotic. A “dying wish” is not binding on anyone and certainly should have no bearing on political decisions. The Dems are panicking.
