Schiff: Trump’s Team ‘Admitted’ the President ‘Acted Corruptly’

January 29, 2020

Tuesday on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show, House Impeachment Manager and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff claimed falsely that President Trump’s impeachment defense team “basically has admitted” that Trump “acted corruptly,” “tried to cheat” in the upcoming election, and coerced the Ukrainian president to do “his political dirty work.”

“[T]he president’s team basically has admitted that Donald Trump acted corruptly, withheld this money, tried to cheat in the next election, used the money to coerce or extort the leader of Ukraine into doing his political dirty work,” Schiff said.

Schiff went on to blather that Trump attorney Alan Dershowitz’s defense opinion is “out of the mainstream,” whatever that means, and that one needs only common sense, not a Constitutional lawyer, to find Trump guilty.

One needs only common sense to see that Schiff is trying to dismiss Dershowitz’s argument precisely because it is strictly Constitutionalist and renders the entire impeachment trial moot.
