Schiff Demands Public Hearings on Soleimani Strike

January 7, 2020

In an interview with the Washington Post published Monday, Adam Schiff called for Congressional hearings on President Trump’s decision to take out Iranian terror chief Qasem Soleimani in an airstrike.

“I think there should be open hearings on this subject. The president has put us on a path where we may be at war with Iran. That requires the Congress to fully engage,” Schiff said.

“It was a reckless decision that increased the risk to America all around the world, not decreased it. When Secretary Pompeo says that this decision to take out Qasem Soleimani saved American lives, saved European lives, he is expressing a personal opinion, not an intelligence conclusion,” Schiff had previously said on CNN’s State of the Union. “I think it will increase the risk to Americans around the world.”

On the contrary, it is Democrats and their longstanding appeasement of Iran that has increased the risk to Americans. Trump is demonstrating forcefully to Iran that there is a new sheriff in town.
