Sanders Puts Campaign on Hold After Emergency Heart Surgery

October 2, 2019

2020 presidential contender Bernie Sanders cancelled all campaign events and appearances “until further notice” in the wake of his emergency heart surgery, according to Breitbart News.

The 78-year-old senator reportedly experienced chest discomfort during an event Tuesday and sought medical evaluation. Sanders’ campaign said Wednesday that the White House hopeful had a heart procedure for a blocked artery. Two stents were “successfully inserted” and Sanders “is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days.”

Sanders’ wife too reported that her husband was “doing really well.” Nonetheless, the campaign canceled a major Iowa television advertisement which was supposed to commence on 10/3.

“We offer Sen. Sanders our prayers and wish him a speedy recovery,” said Tim Murtaugh, the Trump 2020 re-election campaign Director of Communications, in a statement to ABC News.
