Sanders: ‘Maybe the New York Times Has Failed’ Americans, Too

January 17, 2020

In an interview with the New York Times last month, White House hopeful Bernie Sanders mused that Donald Trump was elected because Americans felt not only that the “political establishment” has failed them, but that “the New York Times has failed them, too.”

Asked to explain Trump’s widespread support, Sanders told the Times, “I wish I could give you a great answer, brilliant answer, to that. But this is what I will tell you, because that’s, you’re right. What is the issue? How did Trump become president?”

“I think it speaks to something that I talk about a lot and that is the fact that the — not everybody, but tens and tens of millions of Americans feel that the political establishment, Republican and Democrat, have failed them,” he continued. “Maybe the New York Times has failed them, too,” he added.

For once, Sanders got something right. The political establishment has failed Americans, and so have the left-leaning news media, at the pinnacle of which sits the fake news New York Times.
