Just prior to Super Bowl LVI being held in Los Angeles last weekend, the conservative street artist known as Sabo put up a series of Super Bowl-themed posters demanding the recall of district attorney George Gascón (D), whose soft-on-crime platform has resulted in a surge in homicides and other violent crimes in the L.A. area.
“LAPD Cannot Protect You,” one street-art poster reads. “Recall D.A. Gascon.”
Sabo told Breitbart News, “L.A. has some nerve holding the Super Bowl in town when it was only a month or two ago LAPD told everyone that they cannot protect them from robberies and violent homeless people.”
He was referring to a recent warning issued by Jamie McBride, the head of the L.A. Police Protective League, saying, “My message to anyone thinking about coming to Los Angeles… is don’t. We can’t guarantee your safety. It is really, really out of control.”
Other Sabo posters show an NFL referee being robbed by a masked, hooded individual with a gun.
Gascón’s campaign was successful thanks to massive financial support from leftist billionaire financier George Soros, whose deep pockets have also enabled other left-wing district attorneys to get installed in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and other big cities that are now suffering the criminal consequences.
When he took office in late 2020, the pro-criminal Gascón promised to enact so-called criminal justice “reform,” which means a refusal to prosecute a range of crimes such as trespassing, resisting arrest, drug possession, and making criminal threats. The result has been a surge of violent crime. Gascon has become so unpopular that even left-wing Hollywood elites are donating to the recall campaign.
