Richmond: Some Republicans ‘Would Vote Against Mother’s Day’ if It Was a Democrat Idea

April 1, 2021

Wednesday on MSNBC’s MTP Daily, Biden senior adviser Cedric Richmond claimed that some Republicans “would vote against Mother’s Day” if Democrats proposed it in Congress.

Discussing Biden’s $2.5 billion infrastructure package, Richmond said, “There are some Republicans that would vote against Mother’s Day if it was our idea. However, we do think that there are many Republicans who understand the need for investment in infrastructure and the need to go big and do so specifically.”

If Democrats proposed Mother’s Day, Republicans should vote against it because it would actually be a Trojan horse for left-wing power grabs and big-government boondoggles — just like Biden’s infrastructure package.

He continued, “I think that the representatives and legislators in Louisiana know very well we need to invest in our ports, they know we need to invest in our roads and our bridges, they know we need to invest in our levies… Americans deserve better. We should not have the 13th best infrastructure in the world when we’re the greatest country in the world. I think Americans understand that.”

What Americans should understand is that only a quarter of this astronomical sum will actually go to “infrastructure,” and that generations to come will be saddled with trying to pay it back.

Where do Richmond and his cohorts think the money will come from? Richmond said members of Congress “can come up with their own way to pay for it. We’re open to that.” Oh, good to know. Good plan.
