On Twitter on Saturday, Rep. Rashida Tlaib called for a “political revolution” in America and declared that the country needs to “completely transform” its political and economic system.
“We have to make the tough, courageous changes that completely transform a political and economic system that is now built for corporations (and profits), not people,” Tlaib tweeted. “Choosing the status quo means doing nothing and giving up. We need a political revolution.”
Her call to “completely transform” the United States politically and economically echoes — perhaps consciously — the 2008 campaign promise of former President Barack Obama that he would “fundamentally transform” America.
This is the language of the revolutionary Left, of anti-capitalist, totalitarian radicals who want not to “make America great again” but to raze it to the ground and rebuild it as a socialist utopia.
