After President Trump’s Tuesday-night Oval Office address, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) implied on social media that it resembled the “tactics” of the Ku Klux Klan. He went on to deride the president’s “audience” as similar to membership in the KKK.
When presidential biographer Jon Meacham tweeted, shortly after Trump’s video address, about Georgia Gov. Clifford Walker calling for a wall against immigrants at a 1924 Klan rally, Cohen responded, “Nearly a century later and same tactics/similar audience.”
Cohen later deleted the tweet, but followed it up with one deriding Americans as “plain folks of the land” whose inner souls are embodied by “a downright and complete narcissistic moron” like Trump.
