In a 4th of July tweet, anti-Trump hysteric and former All in the Family star Rob “Meathead” Reiner described Independence Day as “a strange thing to be celebrating.”
Joining a wave of pampered, privileged Hollywood celebrities complaining about America rather than expressing their gratitude for the unprecedented prosperity and freedoms it has provided all Americans, Reiner whined, “This 4th, a majority of Americans may feel Independence Is a strange thing to be celebrating. The ugly rise of Authoritarianism has sunk its hooks into our Democracy. But if we want our Union to be more perfect, we must continue to fight! VOTE!!”
Authoritarianism? If America is in the grip of ugly authoritarianism, it’s because his own party holds the political power in this country (which, by the way, is a republic and not a democracy).
Gratitude is not a leftist value, so it’s futile to expect neo-Marxists, even wealthy ones like Reiner, to appreciate that America is the freest, most prosperous and moral country in history. Their “revolutionary consciousness” will not allow them to settle for anything less than utopia, the collectivist ideal of enforced equity. Reiner himself said it: “if we want our Union to be more perfect, we must continue to fight!” [Emphasis added]
Conservatives recognize that, human nature being what it is, the Left’s utopian vision is a dangerous fantasy that always ends only in dystopia.
