A Rasmussen Reports survey released Wednesday found not only that a majority of American voters believe the hapless President Joe Biden should resign over his administration’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, but that his approval rating has plunged to a record low.
Respondents were asked to indicate if they agreed with the following statement: “I think Joe Biden deserves to be impeached because he’s abandoned thousands of Afghans who fought with us and he’s going to abandon some American citizens because he capitulated to the Taliban to a 31 August deadline.”
A majority, or 52%, said Biden should resign, while 39% said no. Three-quarters of Republicans say he should, but less than one-third of Democrats (32%), and a plurality of independents (48%).
In addition, 47% of voters rightly noted that Vice President Kamala Harris is “not at all qualified” to assume the presidency, with 11% saying she is “not very qualified.” Only 38% indicated some confidence in her ability to do so.
The Rasmussen poll also revealed that Biden’s approval rating has plunged. “Last night we recorded a new low single-overnight approval result in President Biden’s job approval history and today he will set a record low in our 3-day rolling approval avg,” Rasmussen Reports announced. His approval rating is at an historical low of 42% — a two-point drop from Tuesday, which matched his previous record low.
Of the 56% who disapprove of his job performance, 47% “strongly” disapprove — a two-point increase from Tuesday.
Only complete Democrat denial explains why Biden, the worst president in history after only 7 months in office, has even 1% approval among voters.
