Rahm Emanuel: Beto O’Rourke a ‘Loser’

November 30, 2018

Commenting on the hype surrounding a possible 2020 presidential run by Texan Democrat Francis “Beto” O’Rourke, who lost a Senate bid earlier this month against Ted Cruz, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel pointed out that “You don’t usually promote a loser to the top of party.”

“If Beto O’Rourke wants to go and run for president, God bless him, he should put his hat in and make his case. But, he lost. You don’t usually promote a loser to the top of party,” Emanuel said Thursday on MSNBC, reasoning that if O’Rourke couldn’t win in his home state, how could he hope to beat Donald Trump in 2020?

A Morning Consult/Politico poll showed O’Rourke running third among Democratic voters nationwide on their wish list for 2020, behind former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
