Psaki Defends Transgender Athletes in Women’s Sports

February 10, 2021

White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters on Tuesday, regarding President Joe Biden’s executive order opening women’s sports to men who identify as transgender, that Biden signed it because he believes “trans rights are human rights.”

“The president’s belief is that trans rights are human rights, and that’s why he signed that executive order,” Psaki said.

The order requires public schools not to discriminate against transgender individuals or face losing federal funds. “Children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to the restroom, the locker room, or school sports,” Biden wrote in his order, without addressing the worry, dangers, and discrimination girls and women will face from having to share those restrooms, locker rooms, and sports with men pretending to be women.

“In terms of the determinations by universities and colleges, I would certainly defer to them,” Psaki evaded.

Author Abigail Shrier, whose book Irreversible Damage sparked controversy for addressing the harm being done to girls and women by the rush to embrace and celebtrate transgenderism, expressed her concern about Biden’s order on social media. “Biden unilaterally eviscerates women’s sports,” she tweeted. “Any educational institution that receives federal funding must admit biologically-male athletes to women’s teams, women’s scholarships, etc.”
