Pope on Earth Day: We Have ‘Despoiled’ the Planet

April 22, 2020

In a video-streamed audience on the 50th anniversary of “Earth Day,” Pope Francis lamented humanity’s failure to “care for the earth,” saying, “we have no future if we destroy the very environment that sustains us.”

“Because of our selfishness we have failed in our responsibility to be guardians and stewards of the earth…” the pope said. “We have polluted and despoiled it, endangering our very lives. For this reason, various international and local movements have sprung up in order to appeal to our consciences.”

“I deeply appreciate these initiatives,” Francis continued. “Still it will be necessary for our children to take to the streets to teach us the obvious: we have no future if we destroy the very environment that sustains us.”

Pope Francis has put a globalist, socialist agenda front and center in his tenure as a purported spiritual leader, supporting economy-killing Green New Deal initiatives, praising environmentalist scolds like teen activist Greta Thunberg, decrying capitalist “greed,” and calling for open borders and the embrace of mass migration.
