While not naming her specifically, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared to slight Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for her reliance on Twitter support rather than doing the hard work to pass Democrat policies into law.
Ocasio-Cortez has used the social media platform to rally support for her proposals, although it hasn’t translated into actual legislative victories.
Pelosi was asked during a USA Today interview published Monday about getting loose-cannon new Congress members such as Ocasio-Cortez to focus on implementing Democrat policies. “While there are people who have a large number of Twitter followers, what’s important is that we have large numbers of votes on the floor of the House,” Pelosi answered.
