Pelosi: Rep. Greene’s Comments to AOC Were ‘Verbal Assault’

May 14, 2021

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested to reporters on Thursday that Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene should be brought before the House Ethics Committee for her “verbal assault” on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC).

“The verbal assault of our colleague… uuuhh… uhh… AOC. It’s so beyond the pale of anything that is in keeping of bringing honor to the House or not bringing dishonor to the House… You probably wonder if it’s a matter for the Ethics Committee,” Pelosi stammered.

“You don’t care about the American people,” Greene slammed AOC on Wednesday near the House chamber. “Why do you support terrorists and Antifa?”

AOC did not stop to respond to Greene, who afterward told reporters, “She’s a chicken, she doesn’t want to debate the Green New Deal. These members are cowards. They need to defend their legislation to the people. That’s pathetic.”

AOC spokeswoman Lauren Hitt claimed that, in response, “when Rep. Ocasio-Cortez tried to walk away, Congresswoman Greene began screaming and called Rep. Ocasio-Cortez a terrorist sympathizer. We hope leadership and the Sergeant at Arms will take real steps to make Congress a safe, civil place for all Members and staff.”

The American people don’t want Congress to be a safe place. They want the truth to be told and for their representatives to have the courage to defend and debate their positions on the issues. In this case, Greene had the guts to call AOC out for her radicalism, and AOC could not, or would not, reply.
