Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi defended anti-Semitic Rep. Ilhan Omar for comparing the U.S. and Israel to the Taliban and Hamas because she is a “valued member” of the Democrat caucus.
Asked about a statement rebuking the Muslim Omar for her remarks, Pelosi said, “Let me just say this. We did not rebuke her. We acknowledged that she made a clarification. So before we go too far down that path.”
She continued, “Congresswoman Omar is a valued member of our caucus. She asked her questions of the secretary of state. Nobody criticized those, how people will be held accountable if we’re not going to the International Court of Justice. That was a very legitimate question. That was not of concern. Members did become concerned when the tweet that was put out equated the United States with the Taliban and Hamas. And, and then she clarified it. And we thanked her for clarification.”
So that’s how the Democrats deal with their own who spark outrage: ask them politely for clarification, then move on. And the complicit media accepts it and moves on. Now imagine the media apoplexy if a Republican congressman had equated — correctly — Black Lives Matter and Antifa with Nazi brownshirts. Would they be satisfied with a clarification?
