Shortly after assuring Breitbart News that he would not actually confiscate AR-15s if elected president (despite his proud declaration in a presidential debate, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15s”), failing White House contender Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke told MSNBC that he would send police officers to the home of any non-complaint gun owners to “recover” their rifles.
In an interview on Morning Joe, O’Rourke was asked what he would do if a “rancher in Texas” refused to comply with his government-mandated AR-15 buyback.
“I think just as, in any law that is not followed, or flagrantly abused, there have to be consequences, or else there is no respect for the law,” O’Rourke replied. “In that case, I think there would be a visit by law enforcement to recover that firearm and to make sure that it is purchased, bought back, so that it cannot be, potentially used against someone else.”
Confiscating the firearms of law-abiding gun owners will do nothing to end gun violence, but it will satisfy the totalitarian cravings of leftists like O’Rourke.
