Floundering Democrat presidential candidate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke predictably cheered Dick’s Sporting Goods’ decision to destroy $5 million worth of the chain’s semi-automatic rifle inventory.
Dick’s CEO Ed Stack recently announced that his company destroyed $5 million worth of “assault-style rifles” to keep them out of private hands, while admitting that his company’s woke, post-Parkland gun control stance has resulted in “a quarter of a billion [dollars]” in losses. That hasn’t deterred Stack but his costly virtue-signaling should alarm Dick’s stockholders.
The proud gun confiscation proponent O’Rourke, who has openly vowed on the campaign trail, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15s,” tweeted about the Dick’s move, “Dick’s Sporting Goods is doing more to keep Americans safe from assault weapons than Congress.”
Of course, destroying “assault weapons” does absolutely nothing to keep Americans safe, but for Democrats gun confiscation isn’t about protecting citizens but about amassing power.
