Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar declared on Wednesday that President Trump’s call for economic sanctions against Iran in response to its attacks against America “makes no sense,” labeling it “economic warfare.”
“As we continue to evaluate options in response to Iranian aggression, the United States will immediately impose additional punishing economic sanctions on the Iranian regime,” Trump announced, warning that they will remain in place “until Iran changes its behavior.”
“This makes no sense,” Omar tweeted. Sanctions “have already caused medical shortages and countless deaths in Iran. You cannot claim to want deescalation and then announce new sanctions with no clear goal,” she added. “This is not a measured response!”
Sanctions are a measured response, considering that the terror state Iran has been waging war against us for 40 years ever since the revolution that put Islamic fundamentalists in power. Omar and her fellow radical Democrats simply prefer appeasement of Iran as their “clear goal.”
