Omar: Trump Might Start War with Iran to Protect His Hotels

January 7, 2020

Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, ludicrously suggested on Monday that President Trump might go to war with Iran if the terror state’s mullahs target his hotels in retaliation for the deadly airstrike on top General Qasem Soleimani.

“Trump needs to immediately divest from his businesses and comply with the emoluments clause. Iran could threaten Trump hotels *worldwide* and he could provoke war over the loss of revenue from skittish guests,” Omar wrote on Twitter. “His business interests should not be driving military decisions.”

Omar had previously suggested the Soleimani strike was an attempt to distract from impeachment: “So what if Trump wants war, knows this leads to war and needs the distraction?” Omar tweeted. “Real question is, will those with congressional authority step in and stop him? I know I will.”

To listen to Democrats, one would think Iran had never done anything to deserve a forceful pushback from the United States.
