Omar: ‘Reject Any Attempt to Criminalize Peaceful Protest’

June 2, 2020

Sunday on Twitter, Rep. Ilhan Omar celebrated the news of Minnesota’s Antifa-supporting Attorney General Keith Ellison leading the investigation into the death of George Floyd, who died on Memorial Day weekend in police custody. She added that Democrat Gov. Tim Walz’s administration must “reject any attempt to criminalize peaceful protest.”

“This is major progress,” Omar tweeted. “Here are two more steps Governor Walz can take to respond to George Floyd’s murder: 1. Call on the police board to revoke all 4 officers’ law enforcement licenses,” and “2. Reject any attempt to criminalize peaceful protest.”

In a separate tweet, Omar wrote, “our humanity must be recognized.” If you want that, then call for the rioters and looters to stop acting subhuman, and recognize the humanity of the innocents they’re targeting.

No one is trying to criminalize peaceful protest. The issue is the nationwide rioting, cop-killing, indiscriminate looting, and murder of innocents that the far left is inflicting, which Omar did not condemn.
