Self-described socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defended fellow socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders for his declaration that “billionaires should not exist,” agreeing that “No person should have a billion dollars.”
Sanders unveiled his “wealth tax” plan last week and proclaimed that “billionaires should not exist.” Blackstone CEO Stephen A. Schwarzman subsequently retorted, “Maybe Bernie shouldn’t exist.” Ocasio-Cortez responded on Twitter, clarifying Sanders’ remark and taking things a step further, stating that the capitalist system that creates billionaires is “immoral.”
“‘Billionaires should not exist’ does not mean certain people should not exist,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “It means no person should have a billion dollars. The ascent of billionaires is a symptom & outcome of an immoral system that tells people affordable insulin is impossible but exploitation is fine.”
The Democrat Party isn’t even bothering anymore to conceal its radical antipathy to such pillars of American greatness as capitalism and the 2nd Amendment.
