In a Twitter thread on Saturday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) called U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “a dangerous agency.”
“ICE is a dangerous agency with 0 accountability, widespread reporting of rape, abuse of power, + children dying in DHS custody,” the controversial freshman Congresswoman tweeted.
“[ICE] do not deserve a dime until they can prove that they are honoring human rights, until they can make a good faith effort to expand and embrace immigrants,” she said in a recent speech.
Ocasio-Cortez had won the 2018 Democratic Primary partly because of her promise to abolish the agency.
