In an interview on All In With Chris Hayes on Friday night, Democratic Socialist Congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized GOP Senators for being upset at the bullying protests of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, and blamed them as well.
After Hayes aired a clip of Sen. Chuck Grassley condemning Democratic Congress members for urging protesters to confront representatives in public, Ocasio-Cortez said, “If a lot of these Republican Senators are upset at the reaction that’s going on, maybe they should stop running away from their town halls.
“Maybe they should visit their constituents. Maybe they should pick up their phone,” she added. “Maybe they should answer e-mails. But because they are running away from the basic tenets of democracy, our job is not to preside over our communities, our job is to listen to our communities.”
